Imagine spreading hot foam on your face in the morning during a cold winter day. As the lather hits your face, it warms your whiskers and softens your skin before you attack it with your new shavette razor.
The shavette is the perfect transition razor to using a straight razor, and this new wet shave kit has everything you need to make the manly leap.
You can go to the barber and pay for a hot shave, or you can buy a shaving scuttle for the cost of two to three shaves so that you can have one at home every day.
We recommend you do both—but especially now that we are all staying home more, this is the perfect time to learn the art of wet shaving.
One thing's for sure, and you’ll never go back to scooping cold foam out of an environmentally unfriendly aerosol can again. If you are doing that now, you are in for an exceptional hot treat.
You’ll be walking around like McGregor after shaving with hot foam every day.
VERTICAL & HORIZONTAL MATRIX
The vertical bars keep your brush sliding towards freedom while the horizontal ridges catch the soap between the brush bristles and create a thick lather ready to be smothered all over your face.
The polished stainless steel quality will last you a lifetime and won't break if you accidentally drop it. This new scuttle design performs as one would expect from a shaving mug. Some would say it sings with hot delight.
The chambered stainless steel holds in the heat like a hot thermos and allows several hot foam passes for you men with hair like a bear.
Ok, let's review what you get from the Silver Fox Scuttle Shaving Mug. . .
- Horizontal & verticals bars—create some tension for lather
- 10 oz chamber—for filling with hot water
- Environmentally-friendly cork—dry rot resistant
- Steaming Hot Shave at Home
Our customers absolutely love this mug, and we even filed a patent on the new design, so you won't be able to find it anywhere else.
Whip up a lux lather without banging your brush handle like Ringo Star on the rim. But if you do, the steel can take it.
A stainless bowl (available solo and in our Stand Kits) allows you to shake out excess moisture so that you won't waste your shaving puck.
Personally, I remove the water and leave the soap in the scuttle. It works for me, but you can remove it and add it to a soap dish for those who want to keep the soap dry.
Use your favorite brush to whisk the soap, and this kit includes a new Swedish Blackwood brush and organic shave soap. The nice thing about our brushes; unlike soft badger brushes, they are very stiff and allow you to get enough tension to create a great lather.
Our customer Jim recently told us about his experience with the Savanna Scuttle:
“Let's say I will never shave without the Savanna Scuttle again. Ideally, fill the inner bowl with hot water and let sit for about 5 min before making your lather. This is a must-have addition to anyone who likes hot lather."
Oh, and we had a top 500 reviewer drop a video review of our original scuttle used as a model for this design (check it here).

Scuttle Preparation Tips
Option 1 - Bathroom Water
Fill it with hot water from your bathroom.
It’s in these moments that you’ll realize how good (or bad) your water heater is. If you have a subpar water heater, then pick another option. Our water heater at the office is so good I could boil an egg. LOL
Pour the hot water into the Savanna Scuttle and put some extra water in a separate container to dip your razor. Put the cork on and drop your soap into the scuttle.
Mix with a brush and watch the MAGIC happens.
Option 2 - Use A Machine
Place the scuttle on a coffee warmer. Fill the mug with hot (almost boiling) water, and allow it to warm up. Then soak the brush for a few seconds (the Naked Armor badger free brush needs no pre softening) and pour the heated water into the scuttle. Plug it with the cork.
This allows you to whisk up a hot lather, which stays hot to the very end. Man, does this feel good, and it also works well.
Option 3 - The Lazy Man
Ok, one other option is what we call the lazy man's scuttle technique.
Take the empty scuttle with you into the shower and fill it with hot water while you shower. Place the soap inside to create a nice lather.
This is how Naked Armor’s founder does it—but he also likes scalding, hot showers. Not for the timid, but efficient.
Option 4 - The Jose Carlos Method
We just got this one in from one of our customers, and we love it. Here is what Joe Carlos recommends:
I was reading the page on different ways to fill it with Hot H20, and I would like to add one to the list; if you have an electric Sparkletts dispenser use the hot water from there, it's lava hot and heats the scuttle instantly.
The lather is super warm; you could almost fall asleep. It's so comforting. I just wanted to share that and say thanks for making a great product.
Did you get another option? We'd love to hear about it.
